COLUMBIA, SOUTH CAROLINA: Republican senator Tim Scott has once again been elected from South Carolina for a full term in congress, defeating Democratic Party's Krystle Matthews. Scott came across as a representative of stability and progress for conservatives. He rose to become a party leader through fundraising and on various issues of race and policing.

Scott, who is the only Black Republican in the US Senate, already declared that the 2022 race would be his last run for the US Senate, reported voteimscott.com. Meanwhile, former SC Governor Nikki Haley appointed Scott to the US Senate in 2013. This was following the resignation of Sen. Jim DeMint, who then won a special election in 2014 to serve the remaining two years of the term. Scott landed into his official first term in South Carolina in 2016, reported counton2.com
