The billionaire, who appeared in the controversial documentary series, pointed out that as he watched his late mother being abused by his alcoholic father, he "knew the symptoms" of living in a domineering environment and suffering abuse. "She was abused. And so was he. I knew the symptoms, I saw it. I saw my mother being abused for years," Perry said.

The actor had once revealed an incident where as a child, he was severely beaten up by his alcoholic father who ripped off the skin on his back using a vacuum cleaner cord.

"To use the institution to try and do all the things a batterer would do, like 'here's what we're going to do, we are going to cut off the money, not leave you with security, we're gonna do all those things to make you comply and come back.", Perry commented on the royal family's approach toward the couple.

Appreciating the couple's 'Megxit', Perry said, "And for the both of them to have the wherewithal to say 'I don't give a damn if it's the palace, I'm out of here', I applauded that."

The actor revealed that just before the royal wedding of Meghan and Prince Harry, he reached out to her to offer her support. Two years later, Meghan called Perry telling him that she was "afraid". "I could hear the fear. It was palpable. I could hear it,' Perry said. 'So I asked her, what was she afraid of. And she took a deep breath and then she started listing the things that she was afraid of," he said.

Referring to Princess Diana's death, Perry claimed in the documentary that the most he knew was that as soon as the princess' marriage ended, she was thrown to the wolves. "So to tell Meghan that her feelings were valid hurt. I didn't want to say that to her. I didn't want her to feel that but I didn't want to lie to her. She was afraid of them destroying her or going crazy or them making her think she was going crazy," he said.

Offering his $18 million home in Beverly Hills, he told the couple that once they quit the monarchy and left the palace, they could use the property as their residence. The offer was put forth after Meghan called him, telling him she was "afraid".

Perry made the remarks in the bombshell final episode of the Netflix docuseries. Allegations against the royal family for mistreating the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the press attacks afterward were a major part of the documentary. Throughout the series, the royal couple also called out their family members, blaming them for not being willing to understand their space for freedom and love.
