By incorrectly praising the US alliance with "the Republic of North Korea," Kamala Harris added to the White House's disastrous week which began the day after President Joe Biden called for a deceased lawmaker at a hunger-relief event. She received backlash on Twitter as people made fun of her huge blunder.

On September 29, the vice president visited the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where she made the error of equating South Korea, a country that is an ally of the United States with communist North Korea. “The United States shares a very important relationship, which is an alliance with the Republic of North Korea,” Harris said during a speech at the DMZ, intending to refer to the Republic of Korea, the official name of South Korea. “It is an alliance that is strong and enduring,” she continued, not appearing to recognize her mistake, Daily Mail reported.
