LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: All 'Wednesday' fans are dancing with their hands as the series has a high possibility of being renewed for a second season because of its brilliant viewership record. Netflix has gained a reputation for canceling shows after a season or two leaving many disappointed across the world. In 2022, Netflix has canceled fan favorites including 'Warrior Nun', 'Fate: The Winx Saga', 'The Midnight Club' and 'First Kill' among others. Although these shows had garnered fans from across the globe, they lacked viewership. Safe to say, Netflix saw no meaning in continuing the said shows.

'Wednesday' was among the most anticipated Netflix shows of 2022, buoyed by the fact that Tim Burton, who made his television directorial debut with the show, was attached to the project as both a producer and a director. Not to mention once Netflix revealed the first look of Ortega in costume as the iconic 'Wednesday' Addams, it only added to the hype.

According to Deadline, 'Wednesday' being renewed for season 2 was “inevitable,” though sources said that Netflix was waiting until the new year to make any announcement. Of course, this was not confirmed by the streamer itself, but it seems pretty plausible as the series surpassed 1.02 billion viewing hours in just three weeks since its debut, the company announced, with over 150 million households streaming the show.

It’s worth stating that 'Wednesday' defeated 'Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,' the biographical drama series starring 'American Horror Story' actor Evan Peters. It was the the second most popular English-language series on Netflix as it reached 856.2 million viewing hours in 28 days, whereas 'Wednesday' took just 21 days to become a smash hit.

Within three weeks of release, it became the second-most watched English language Netflix series. It received two Golden Globe nominations: Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy and Best Actress - Television Series Musical or Comedy for Ortega.
