What happened during their time on ‘Shark Tank’?

After entering ‘Shark Tank’, Daniel Zakowski, Dr Katie Marks-Cogan, and Dr Andy Leitner asked for $350,000 in exchange for 7% equity of Ready, Set, Food! They explained to the sharks that they created the enterprise based on clinical trials about allergies in children. Dr Marks-Cogan also explained the science behind the product: if you give infants common allergens like peanuts, eggs, and milk in their formula, they are much less likely to develop an allergy to them later in life. Their products hope to combat 80% of childhood allergies with its 6-month program for babies. The powder must be added to their milk or formula for its effectiveness. And the best part is that children won’t taste it at all!

Upon hearing that doctors backed the claims, the sharks were immediately interested in the product. The sharks were also intrigued to learn that the company has raised nearly $2.5 million in investments. They explain that their plans are six months long and can be purchased in a single order or as a subscription for slightly more. Kevin O’Leary gave the entrepreneurs two options,  a deal for $350,000 with 11% equity or another with $350,000 as a 36-month loan with 8% interest and a 4% stake. Lori Greiner also offered $350,000 as a loan at 2% interest, plus a 7% stake and a $1 per unit royalty until she earns $500,000. Finally, Mark Cuban offered them $350,000 for 10% equity and 2% in advisory shares. But he did have one contingency for the trio: for each subscription they sell, they’ll make a contribution of one to a low-income family at zero cost. After countering the offer at a straight 9.5% equity, with no advisory shares, both parties finalized 10% equity for Mark, and the deal was set. Mark was especially excited to be on board, saying, "I wish I had it when my kids were younger."

Where is Ready, Set, Food! now and how is the company faring today?

According to reports, Ready, Set, Food! has continued to make massive strides to help parents of children with severe allergies and claimed that more than 25,000 families are using their organic products today. The group has even worked to expand its network of physicians recommending their anti-allergen baby products to their patients. Ready, Set, Food! has continued to sell on Amazon and even broadened its horizons to include Target, Walmart, Meijer, and buybuyBaby. In June 2021, the company received an additional $3 million in funding from investors, including Danone Manifesto Ventures and AF Ventures led by Mark Cuban, who stated that as a parent of a child with a severe allergy, he understood the plight of fellow parents. He also expressed his interest in helping educate everyone about allergen products to help parents protect their children.

The company has since introduced new varieties of products, including organic oatmeal. Ready, Set, Food! is working on adding a “stage 3” line with peanut, egg, milk, cashew, almond, walnut, sesame, soy, and wheat for older toddlers who have moved to solids and chewable food. Currently, the company has attained thousands of customers who swear by its products and $3.5 million in annual revenue.

Ready, Set, Food! announced on their Instagram that they will be back on ‘Shark Tank’ Season 14 to give an update. They said, “We’ll catch you up on what we’ve been up to these last few years -- we’ve expanded our product line, grown our company, and now you can find us in select stores across the US! We’re also going to have a special holiday surprise that you DON’T want to miss on our first “Where Are They Now?” update.”
