What is Anthony Rizzo’s net worth? 3-time All-Star batsman returns to Yankees following $40M multiyear contract
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: The Yankees made their first offseason strike by keeping Anthony Rizzo in their ranks and are now working on signing Aaron Judge who is still a free agent. They signed the 33-year-old Rizzo to a two-year, $34 million contract with a $17 million club option in the third year which includes a $6 million buyout.
Rizzo chose to forego the second year of the two-year, $32 million contract he signed in the spring after blasting 32 home runs in his first full season with the Yankees. He also turned down the team's offer of $19.65 million. As the Yankees attempt to pair Rizzo and Judge together after the duo contributed to leading their lineup, Rizzo will receive a raise and an additional year in his new contract. The Astros reportedly had a top target in Rizzo, according to Sports Illustrated, but the Yankees moved quickly to pounce on the opportunity. Rizzo was acquired at the 2021 trade deadline and managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner stated the club wanted to keep him after the signing. Rizzo is the only current Yankee who has won a championship and the Yankees appreciated his expertise because he guided the Cubs to the 2016 World Series victory.
