Scotty self-released 'Five More Minutes' without the assistance of a record company after being dismissed from his old label, Mercury Nashville, in early 2016. The song was the first independently released song to reach the Top 50 country chart on Mediabase. Scotty eventually signed with Triple Tigers Records, thanks in part to the success of the song.
